Central & East Java Trip - Day 1 (ver 2.0)

--1st Stop: Changi Airport T1--
Reached T1 at nearly 9am. Was worried that Air Asia's counters were like Silkair's (counters served all passengers who are travelling to diff locations). Luckily, AA split up their counters for different flights. We managed to check-in our luggage and went to have some food. (Can't imagine going hungry during the flight...lolz~)
Air Asia QZ7139 (A320) arriving at T1.
Plane departed Changi at 11.20a.m. AA's leather seats were quite comfy, but not as comfortable as compared to Jetstar Asia. (Will explain why I took Jetstar Asia on my last day entry).
Going forward, all the time used in my entries would be Indonesian time (GMT +7).
--2nd Stop: Yogyakarta Adi Sucipto Airport--
12.15p.m. Plane landed safely. Airport was small, and their security check counters were too close to the arrival gate. Kinda messy but we still managed to "get out" smoothly.
Met our tour guide Anjar, but the moment he spoke, I thought our faces turned to some colour. Haha! Maybe we expected them to be speak simple fluent English. Thus, we were surprised with Anjar's accent and his English stds. To be honest, unable to communicate properly with your tour guide would cause problems during the journey. (That happened~)
Just as you think that's our only surprise, you're wrong! One of their agency's staff came, and asked us to pay the remaining amount for the trip. I immediately passed E.W the e-receipt they sent to me after I paid the full amount to them before departure date. We wasted time waiting for the staff to confirm that we had paid everything.
--3rd Stop: Ansor Silver Factory/Shop--
We were told that it was compulsory for tourist to visit the factory. Alright, no harm to see how they made silver items.
The factory was small, but we got to see how they used their hands and simple tools to create all those delicate items.
--4th Stop: Lunch--
Forgot to take note of the restaurant, which was beside Ansor Silver factory. Think the boss is Indonesian Chinese. Anyway, we were the only Asian tourists there. Check out our lunch~
Chicken Soup. Tasted good.
Prawn Crackers.
Beef.
Grilled Fish. Could not stand the "grill" smell. Ha!
Ayam ayam (Chicken).
The most common vege we ate throughout the trip. Chap Chai.
--5th Stop: Prambanan Temple--
Entrance pass.
Lovely lilies~
The classic train. Not sure where it goes to and from.
Prambanan is the 9th century Hindu temple compound in Central Java, dedicated to Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Sustainer (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva). The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, currently the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia, and is one of the largest Hindu temples in south-east Asia. It is characterised by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu temple architecture, and by the towering 47m high central building inside a large complex of individual temples. (credits:Wikipedia)
The temple looked like those in Cambodia, but take a closer look and you cld find lots of differences between them.
The temple was damaged during the May 2006 Java earthquake. Early photos suggest that although the complex was structurally intact. Thus, the damage was significant. Large pieces of debris, including carvings, were scattered over the ground. (credits: Wikipedia)

Relief carved on the temple stones.
Shiva Statue at Shiva Temple.

We had quite a few grp photos shot here. Nice scenery~
--6th Stop: Rumah Palagan Guest House--
After travelling for another 1-2 hr or so, we arrived at the GH I chose. The GH is located at the outskirts of Yogya, but I thought the ambience of the GH was really great, so decided to give up the original 3 star hotel at downtown Yogya and stayed at this ulu area. :D
The GH. (Photo credits: Tuan)
Entrance. (Photo credits: Tuan)
My fav place of the GH, but I thought my photo did not do justice to it. Not enough lightings and sky getting dark. A good combi of modern Javanese architecture.
KH & my room. E.W & Tuan's room was a Suite, but the only diff b/w a Suite & a Deluxe room was the size of the room. Ha!
The GH's "exterior" was good, but it was a pity that the "interior" was not kept to the same stds. Walls were plain and lack of lighting. Besides that, everything was fine. Bathroom was clean and modernised, and bed was comfy.
Nice swimming pool. Didn't bring any swimming costume leh~
Our welcome drink...super nice Ginger tea!
--7th Stop: Dinner @ Gazebo Ramayana Ballet Restaurant--
We gotta pay our dinner ourselves. Anjar recommended this restaurant, and since we did not know where else to eat, we just went ahead. We chose a-la-carte instead of buffet. Those eating buffet got to sit beside the stage, where there were some performances. Lots of Western tourists came to have their buffet dinner. We were sat quite a distance away from them...
Aunt Jo's Lokal Tenderloin Steak. Super duper pathetic portion.
Gado-Gado.
E.W & May Leng lao shi's Chap Chai, Tahu & Tempe Goreng.
KH's Mee Goreng with satay. KH was not feeling well, so could not finish her food.
Tuan's Nasi Goreng Seafood was tasty!
Another pathetic portion. My Snapper Steak. The sauce used for the fish did not match well la. The sauce is more suitable for meat. I liked the boiled Kentang though (potato).
--8th Stop: Anjar's House--
We were supposed to go to Jalan Malioboro, but due to time constraint, we went on the 2nd day.
Anjar brought us to a Batik shop and we bought some stuffs at a good price.
Next, we visited his house. Anjar told us that his family is doing traditional Javanese art & handicrafts etc. Quite impressed to know his background. He is also coming to SG in Oct to showcase his work at ACM. Cool~
A painted wall outside his house. Saw his brothers who were painting other walls.
The masks....
A super delicate Wayang Kulit, which was made of buffalo skin.
One of the paintings I found at his house. I have pics of other artworks, but decided to keep my entry short. The brothers have impressive Batik artwork collections & paintings. I bought a small Wayang Kulit leather bookmark while Tuan bought a Batik laptop bag.

Returned to our GH and had our 1st Kopi session at the lobby :D
